Recommandations pour les salons numériques
Recommendations for digital salons

Afin de faciliter l'organisation des salons numériques et pour permettre l'usage de tous types de matériel et de logiciel, la FIAP recommande d'utiliser la norme suivante:

-   Les images devront avoir un format de 1024 pixels dans la plus grande dimension
      (inutile de préciser à 72dpi) en compression jpg (maximum 10).
  -   Le codage du nom des fichiers sera sur 8 caractères maximum, en 3 groupes:

-   Le premier groupe contiendra le code ISO du pays sur 2 caractères (liste disponible sur www.fiap.net).

-   Le deuxième groupe sera le nom du l'auteur tronqué à 5 caractères (smith ou jsmit ou josmi pour John Smith).

-   Le troisième groupe sera le numéro séquentiel des photos 1 à 4.

-   Seuls des chiffres et des lettres et éventuellement le tiret (-) sont autorisés. Les lettres seront en minuscule.

-   °      Exemple: gbsmith1.jpg , gbsmith2.jpg , ...

-   Les organisateurs sont autorisés à modifier le codage du nom en cas d'homonymie.

-   Une colonne `nom de fichier' sera ajoutée sur les bordereaux.

In order to make easier the organization of digital salons and to allow the use of all types of hardware and software,
FIAP recommends to use the following normalization:

-   The images will be 1024 pixels in the largest size (it is not necessary to precise 72dpi), jpg compression (maximum 10).

-   The file name coding will be on 8 characters maximum, in 3 groups:

-   The first group will include the country ISO code in 2 characters (list available on www.fiap.net).

-   The second group will include the author's name truncated to five characters (smith or jsmit or josmi for John Smith).

-   The third group will be a sequential number for the photos, 1 to 4.

-   Only figures and letters, and eventually the dash (-) are authorized. The letters will be lower-case.

-    °     Example :     gbsmith1.jpg , gbsmith2 jpg , ...

-    The organizers will be authorized to modify the name coding in case of homonymy.
  -    A column 'file name' will be added on the entry-forms.
 
INFO 2003/383 : DEFINITION DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE NOIR-BLANC (monochrome)
DEFINITION OF THE BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY (monochrome)

Cette définition remplace le Document 223 et !'INFO 1991/12.
Une oeuvre noir-blanc allant du gris très foncé (noir) au gris très clair (blanc) est une oeuvre monochrome aux différentes nuances de gris.
Une oeuvre noir-blanc virée intégralement dans une seule couleur restera une oeuvre monochrome pouvant figurer dans la catégorie noir-blanc; une telle oeuvre peut être reproduite en noir et blanc dans le catalogue d'un salon sous Patronage FIAP.
Par contre une oeuvre noir-blanc modifiée par un virage partiel ou l'ajout d'une couleur devient une oeuvre couleur (polychrome) devant figurer dans la catégorie couleur; une telle oeuvre nécessite la reproduction en couleur dans le catalogue d'un salon sous Patronage FIAP.

 This definition supersedes the Document 223 and the INFO 1991/12.
A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey.
A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category; such a work can be reproduced in black and white in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage.
On the other hand a black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the colour category; such a work requires colour reproduction in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage.

DEFINITION OF THE NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY

La photographie nature représente des animaux vivants non apprivoisés et des plantes non cultivées dans leur environnement naturel, la géologie et la grande diversité des phénomènes naturels, allant des insectes aux icebergs.

Des photos d’animaux domestiqués, tenus en cage ou soumis à une quelconque forme de restriction, ainsi que des photos de plantes cultivées, sont inadmissibles.

Une intervention minimale de l’homme est acceptable pour des sujets nature, comme par exemple des hiboux de grange ou des cigognes, s’adaptant à un environnement modifié par l’action de l’homme, ou des forces naturelles, tels que des ouragans ou des raz-de-marée, le revendiquant.

La photo originale doit être prise par le photographe, peu importe le procédé photographique. Toute manipulation ou modification de la prise de vue originale doit se limiter à de minimes retouches d’imperfections et ne peut en aucun cas modifier le contenu de la scène originale.

Après avoir satisfait ces conditions, tout effort sera fait, afin que toutes les photos nature soient du plus haut niveau artistique.

Nature photography depicts living, untamed animals and uncultivated plants in a natural habitat, geology and the wide diversity of natural phenomena, from insects to icebergs.

Photographs of animals which are domesticated, caged or under any form of restraint, as well as photographs of cultivated plants are ineligible.

Minimal evidence of humans is acceptable for nature subjects, such as barn owls or storks, adapting to an environment modified by humans, or natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves, reclaiming it.

The original image must have been taken by the photographer, whatever photographic medium is used. Any manipulation or modification to the original image is limited to minor retouching of blemishes and must not alter the content of the original scene.

After satisfying the above requirements, every effort should be made to use the highest level of artistic skill in all nature photographs.

1) Les Salons internationaux peuvent avoir les Catégories suivantes: Photos Monochrome (M), Photos Couleur (CP), Diapositives Couleur (CS), Diapositives Stéréo (SCS) et Audiovisuel (AV).

Les Salons Internationaux peuvent avoir les Sections suivantes: Libre, Expérimental, Nature, Journalisme, Voyage, Séries, Séquences, Digital ou Thèmes.

Chaque Salon International unique peut avoir jusqu'à un maximum de 6 Sections.

Chaque Circuit International avec 5 organisateurs / salons peut avoir jusqu'à un maximum de 3 Sections.
Chaque Circuit International avec 4 organisateurs / salons peut avoir jusqu'à un maximum de 4 Sections.
Chaque Circuit International avec 3 organisateurs / salons peut avoir jusqu'à un maximum de 5 Sections.

Des Sections qui se répètent dans différentes Catégories sont à considérer comme des Sections supplémentaires à additionner.

Ceci signifie que dans un Salon International unique comportant un maximum de 6 Sections, un auteur peut participer tout au plus avec 24 oeuvres (4 oeuvres par Section). Dans un Circuit International comportant un maximum de 3 Sections, un auteur peut participer tout au plus avec 12 oeuvres (4 oeuvres par Section).

2)  La nouvelle définition Nature ci-après doit être publiée dans les règlements de tous les Salons ayant une Section Nature.


 Recent decisions of the Directory Board

1)    International Salons con have the following Categories: Monochrome prints (M), Colour prints (CP), Colour slides (CS), Stereo colour slides (SCS) and Audio‑visual (AV)

International Salons con have the following Sections: Open, ~Experimental, Nature, Journalism, Travel, Series, Sequences, Digital or Themes.

Every single International Salon may use a maximum of 6 Sections

Every International Circuit with 5 organizers / salons may use a maximum of 3 Sections.
Every International Circuit with 4 organizers / salons may use a maximum of 4 Sections.
Every International Circuit with 3 organizers / salons may use a maximum of 5 Sections.

Sections recurring in different Categories are to be considered as supplementary Sections to be added up.

This means that in a single International Salon with a maximum of 6 Sections, an author may participate with at most 24 works (4 works per Section). In an International Circuit with a maximum of 3 Sections, an author may participate with at most 12 works (4 works per section)

2)    The following new Nature definition must be published in the regulations of all Salons having a Nature Section.

 Il est rappelé aux organisateurs de Salons Internationaux que toute demande de Patronage FIAP non accompagnée du texte complet des conditions de participation sera rejetée d’office. Il en sera de même si au moment de la demande de Patronage, le Service Patronage n’a pas encore reçu le catalogue du salon précédent.

Please remind that the request of FIAP Patronage will be automatically rejected if the complete text of regulations is not added to the application form. The same will be true if the Patronage Service has not yet received the catalogue of the previous salon at the receipt of the request.
